A number of Egyptians abroad in the U.S. criticized the mechanisms of postal voting drafted by the High Electoral Committee (HEC) especially since it provides them with a short time for the voting process, which coincides with Thanksgiving Day, a national holiday in the U.S. Coordinator of the National Assembly for Change (NAC) Ameen Mahmoud said the Egyptian embassy in the U.S. informed in an announcement the mechanism of voting but did not tell them the place of ballots. He added they sent the announcement on November 22, but the final deadline of voting is November 26. He said they are not able to send their votes before the final date, especially since there are the holidays of certain U.S. institutions, including the post office, which is celebrating of Thanksgiving today November 24. He added there is difficulty for Egyptians abroad with voting for the next parliamentary elections, saying, "The HEC likely does not want Egyptians in the U.S. to participate or vote for the next elections.”
