CAIRO: Clashes continue to escalate between Egyptian protestors and Central Security Forces at the entrance of Mohamed Mahmoud Street, a hotspot near the American University in Cairo where clashes began early this morning. Demonstrators are now breaking stones to retaliate against tear gas and rubber bullet attacks. January 25 Channel reported that some are saying that the Egyptian Interior Ministry is trying to reinstall its power, and others are saying that clashes are due to incitement by corrupt individuals. Demonstrators retreated to the other side of the central garden after being dispersed and chased back by the CSF. Ambulances continue to dot Tahrir Square. Some demonstrators were arrested and placed in CSF vehicles, the Channel reported. The CSF is trying to exercise restraint and asking Egyptians to cooperate to achieve the January 25 Revolution's demands, according to an Interior Ministry statement. “The CSF returned with all its strength to the Egyptian street and will not hesitate to protect public assets,” said Assistant Interior Minister for Security Sami Sedhom.
