DAMIETTA, Egypt: Damietta Port reopened today after an 11-day suspension of work. Demonstrators ended their sit-ins and protests against Damietta Fertilizer Plant (MOPCO) in the Nile Delta area and opened the roads leading to the port. Cargo vehicles and lorries with goods resumed work once the roads were open. Negotiations have begin between protesters and the ‘Death Plant,' as they call MOPCO. Demonstrators agreed to upen the road leading to Damietta Port, but will continue to surround the plant, according to Omar Abdel Salam, chairman of the Coalition Against the Death Plant.
