MOPCO Plant for Petrochemicals in Damietta witnessed a crisis for the seventh consecutive day on Monday November 14, respectively where the protestors continued to cut off the main roads surrounding Damietta Port and the residents gathered on the main roads. The protest was made a few hours after the agreement of the council of ministers and the Egypt's ruling military council to stop working at the plant. The protestors described the decision as only a calming procedure, stressing on the necessity of the removal of the plant completely. Chairman of the Islamic Complex in Sananeya Amr Abdel Salam assured the government is still dealing elusively. Protestors continued cutting off the main roads as a method of pressuring the government to release a final decision to remove the plant. Abdel Salam assured all the protestors are demanding the decision to remove the plant. It is worth mentioning, the demonstrators are protesting against a fertilizer plant, MOPCO's, which is alleged of polluting the sea and destroying the fishing industry in the sea.
