CAIRO: Once the Eid prayer is finished and the Egyptian worshippers have exited the mosques, the family rituals, common to many Egyptian homes, will begin in earnest. Some families visit relatives while others take picnics in parks to celebrate and let loose during the four days of Eid al-Adha. The Eid rituals have changed over the years. In the past, the Eid prayer was followed by a trip on the town in new cloths. Also, the Eid Swing, which was a remarkable feature of Eid in Egypt, changed and became a color and music festival. Korba Festival is one of the most important festivals that replaced the Eid picnics and outings. The Korba Festival calls Egyptians to Heliopolis for youth-organized events. Among other activities include water wars and firecrackers as well as drawing workshops on the first day of Eid. The third day of Eid includes art shows and music performances. Other Egyptians will enjoy the photography festival during Eid, which was created by 20-year-old Abdel Rahman Adel. People are encouraged to wear new clothes and enjoy music parties with new bands during the festival. “My idea is a call for all people to attend the photography festival and enjoy the unique art in all its unusual manifestations,” said Adel. “I invited people to the festival from three places: religious compound, Moez Street and Maadi.” “The festival aims to enjoy the Eid in a different way by throwing colors on each other and creating interesting competitions,” said Manar Saeed, one of the organizers of the girls' festival. “It also includes some music shows for new bands.”
