CAIRO: Egypt's new constitution must be unanimously accepted by all Egyptian people, according to Mohamed el-Baradei, a prominent politician and likely presidential candidate. The former Secretary General of the UN's atomic energy agency highlighted the importance on agreement on the basic needs that represent human rights and civil state in a post on his official Twitter page. He also said there must be consensus on the Egyptian army, which is an integral part of the executive authority. "If we do not agree on these basics for being unified as Egyptians, we will be losers," el-Baradei tweeted. In his first comment on Deputy Prime Minister Ali el-Selmy's supra-constitutional principles document, el-Baradei strongly criticized the document. He said it should be cancelled and a committee established to draft a code of ethics all Egyptians agree on. Regarding the Armed Forces' status in the new constitution, el-Baradei said the Armed Forces are not above the state. There is a large difference between a civil democracy that guarantees human rights and a military guardianship, according to el-Baradei.
