CAIRO: A number of Egyptian economic experts demanded the Egyptian government participate in re-building Libya to benefit from the economic projects that will be established there. They said many countries will compete for these projects to seize Libya's petroleum treasures. They said the economic relations between Egypt and Libya will witness notable developments after overthrowing Muammar Gadhafi's regime, especially in rebuilding Libya. Former Egyptian Minister of Economy Mustafa al-Said said Libya currently needs Egyptian technical workers from different fields, adding that Egyptian doctors and engineers will play a major role during the next stage in Libya. He added that Libya will attract a large number of Egyptian labor and contracting companies to contribute in rebuilding Libya's infrastructure, which was destroyed during the conflict between the revolutionaries and Gadhafi's troops. Said demanded the government conclude agreements with Libya to benefit from the work there in order to keep Western countries from being the sole beneficiaries of the economic opportunities in Libya. Head of the Economic Studies Center Salah Goda said that Libya has the economic qualifications that helped it contribute to increasing Egyptian investments many times before. He also said that Egypt could achieve two trillion dollars in the next ten years if it manages to seize a large number of projects in Libya. Economic expert Abdel Motaleb Abdel Hamid said that Egypt's contracting companies can open the door for Egyptian industries to enter the Libyan market. He also raised the necessity of involving Egypt's private sector companies in rebuilding works in Libya.
