Hundreds of Marinab Coptic Christians, Nubians and workers in Aswan's security directorate held an open protest to protest the protest of the governorate's security director. Ahmed al-Deef was transferred from Aswan to Luxor by order of the Interior Minister. The protestors raised banners opposing the decision and demanded to keep al-Deef in Aswan. Marinab Copts and Nubian participation confirmed Aswan residents' full support for al-Deef. Meglaa Habib, head of Christian youth in Aswan, confirmed that al-Deef handled the Marinab church crisis wisely. He refused to use force and held many conciliation sessions to calm tensions between Christian and Muslim residents. A security leader confirmed that criminal places and gangs decreased in Aswan under al-Deeb. Al Deeb also worked to decrease drug dealing.
