Israeli public radio said that there are conflicting reports regarding how Ilan Grapel, an Israeli-American accused of espionage for Israel, will be released from Egyptian prison. Israeli radio said that Israeli sources confirmed that Grapel would return to Israel on a direct flight from Cairo on Thursday evening, while Egyptian sources said he would be driven to the Taba border crossing and then transferred to Israel. Twenty-five Egyptian prisoners to be exchanged for Grapel will be released from Beersheba prison this afternoon. They will soon be on their way to Taba border crossing. The process of their release will continue until 5:00 pm, when Grapel will be released. The Southern Command of the Israeli Army has closed the Taba border crossing from the Israeli side and the surrounding are, in preparation for the exchange. Egyptian sources said that the crossing will remain closed until 6:00 pm.
