Hamdeen Sabbahi, a candidate for president, issued the first statement from any of the candidates regarding Tuesday's court ruling allowing Egyptians abroad to vote in the upcoming elections. Sabbahi called it "A victory for citizenship and democracy," and saluted the judiciary for their decision. On his account on the social networking site “Twitter,” Sabbahi said that he would continue to support the right of Egyptians abroad, as they are partners in rebuilding Egypt and it's future He also congratulated Tunisia on the success of the elections of a constituent body and for the large voter turnout, and said he hoped the same would happen for Egypt.
