Chancellor Abdel Moez Ibrahim, Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Elections, said the Committee would announce the candidates running in the upcoming elections immediately after judiciary committees in governorates close nomination for seats in the People's Assembly and Shura Council. Ibrahim said that the 13-day nomination period passed without complaints or objections from sub-committees. A judicial source said that the committee has imposed several controls to make sure electoral campaigns do not receive foreign funding of any kind. The head of the Supreme Commission for Elections retains the right to remove a candidate's name from the ballot if he uses religious slogans. This can only be contested in the court that ruled that the candidates name be removed.
