ALEXANDRIA: A tram in Alexandria derailed Sunday, causing chaos and hitting two men who were transferred to Amiri University Hospital for treatment. A report was filed about the accident and public prosecution is carrying out investigations. Director of Alexandria Security Maj. Gen. Khaled Ghoraba received a report from Attareen police station about the accident. The report indicated that the tram derailed and resulted in injuries at Martyrs Square. The third car of tram 883 derailed and hit Sameh Abu el-Ela, 36, and Osama Ibrahim, 26. Abu el-Ela, from Mena el-Bassal, broke his left leg. Osama Ibrahim, a student living in Kafr El-Sheikh, and broke his left arm. The driver, Ahmed Samir Mohamed, 22, said the car derailed because of faulty connectors.
