CAIRO: Certain Egyptian Political parties and coalitions including the Public Coalition of the Egyptian January 25 Revolution, Revolutionary Front for protecting the Revolution and International Union for Arab Revolutionaries called for putting Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman on the list in the swapping deal of American-Israeli Spy Eilan Garpil for Egyptian prisoners. Abdel Rahman, the Blind Sheikh, was convicted of conspiracy in the involvement in the 1993 World Trade Center Bombing. Grapil was arrested in June, accused of spying for Israel. Putting the Blind Sheikh on the list is a basic demand to accomplish the swapping deal because he is an old man, said coordinator of Public Coalition of the January 25 Revolution, Ayman Amer. Abdel Rahman's lawyer, Montasser el-Zayat, said the Blind Sheikh is accused of violating the residency during his detention. If the U.S. asked to release the American-Israeli spy but rejected to put the Blind Sheikh on list among the likely free prisoners, Egypt would refuse the swapping deal and the spy would undergo trial.
