The Eternal Eye is curated by Jessica Wright and will exhibit 45 commissioned Coptic Christian icons by the renowned Coptic icon painter, Magdy William. He was a former student of the founder of contemporary Coptic icon painting, Isaac Fanous, who was a prominent icon painter for decades and was one of the world's premier Coptic icon artists for several decades. The icons will be exhibited ranging in themes from Biblical stories in Egypt to Coptic Christian saints. The exhibition will take place in St. John's Church. Attendance is free and 20 percent of all icon sales will go to Egyptian charity. The exhibition will officially open on Thursday October 20 at 7:00 P.M. by Bishop Daniel, Bishop of Maadi and Assistant to Pope Shenouda III, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Egyptian artist Magdy William will also be present. The exhibition will run until Wednesday October 26. Special presentations during the exhibition include a presentation on October 21 on ‘Making of Coptic Icons' by artist Magdy William. On October 24, the ‘Artistic Restoration of the 6th century Red Monastery: A Visual Presentation' by Michael Jones of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE), funded by USAID.
