The Egyptian minister of health Amr Hilmi said that the state must afford the medical treatment expenses for the patients with hepatitis C, as the medical institution mistakes were the reasons behind the disease proliferation. Hilmi said that the Egyptian patient with hepatitis C is the only patient in the world who has nothing to do with his infection. He also said that the reason behind the spread of the disease among the Egyptians until 1990 is the campaign against sichstosoma disease "Bilharzia." He also said that interferon medicine will be available for all the patients as an act of social justice. It should be noted that Egypt is considered as one of the countries with the highest rates of hepatitis C, as 10 percent of the Egyptian people got the disease. Minister of health statements came during a seminar held today under the auspices of Sawiris institution for the social development.
