75 Fiji soldiers are moving from South Korea road to join forces with different nationalities arrived in Cairo today. They will participate with 11 other countries for peacekeeping in the Sinai Peninsula. After boarding a Korean plane from Sol, the Fiji soldiers finished procedures of their arrival at Cairo airport and headed to the Sinai Peninsula to receive orders. It is worth mentioning, forces from different nationalities were formed in 1981 after signing the Camp David peace treaty between Egypt and Israel in 1979. It aimed to prevent any violation to any of the terms in the treaty. The leaders of these forces of 1,800 soldiers have Rome as their headquarters, while they keep their main bureaus in Cairo and Tel-Aviv. They continue monitoring the Israeli-Egyptian borders. There are 11 countries participating in the peacekeeping forces include Fiji, New Zealand, Colombia, Uruguay, Canada, Australia, Norway, Italy, Hungary, France and the U.S. The forces were formed after an official pledge by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter to his Egyptian counterpart, the former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. This was after the signing of the Camp David peace treaty between Egypt and Israel in 1979.
