Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Kamel Amr today denied that he had received any official or oral offer to conjoin Egypt to the Gulf Council Countries (GCC). Sources within the GCC today revealed that there is currently a discussion underway regarding Egypt's potential inclusion in the GCC. Many council countries are enthusiastic about the possibility of Egypt joining the GCC, particularly because Egypt has various strategic and historical relationships with the GCC, sources said. Egyptian policy is quite similar to GCC policy especially since Jordan and Morocco joined the GCC. “Egypt showed a primary approval to enhance cultural and economic cooperation Arab Gulf states, particularly after the big changes in the Iraqi and Iranian interference in the affairs of Arab Gulf states,” the GCC reported.
