CAIRO: Civil lawyers today gathered outside the High Judiciary Court to attend the hearing demanding the replacement of Ahmed Refaat, the judge presiding over the case against ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly, his six security aides and Gamal and Alaa Mubarak. Some clashes erupted amongst the lawyers in part because of the narrow chamber where the demands were being lodged. Some lawyers stayed outside claiming that the demand to oust the Judge was fragile and illegal. Lawyers for some of the January 25 Revolution martyrs added new reasons to change the Court's judge, including a refusal to allow civil lawyers to ask questions during the hearing and the prohibition on recording devices in the hearing. The transcript of the hearing belongs to the defendants and the victims, they argued.
