Egypt press reported today 80 people were arrested in connection with the events of the Israeli embassy, the Illicit Gains Authority reveals a new formerly undisclosed property belonging to the former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the decree regarding electoral constituencies will be issued within hours. Youm7: Following his appointment as Chairman of the Development Bank, Mohsen Batran said he plans a series of visits and field trips during the first few months of taking office. He will visit all branches of the Bank of the Republic to find out the problems faced by farmers and their employees. Al-Ahram: 80 people were arrested, accused of being involved in the storming of the Israeli embassy and burning a central security booth. The accused are all residents of Bulaq el-Dakrur and Imbaba. Those arrested revealed there was a plan to storm the Giza Security Directorate and two police stations at Cairo University. It is expected others will be arrested soon, including a young man who works in Italy but on the travel ban list. There are security efforts to arrest the girl who reportedly gave the accused money and incited them to commit acts of sabotage. Al-Akhbar: Broadcaster Hafez Mirazi said the post of Minister of Information is repugnant to him, saying if he was in Osama Heikal's position, the current Minister of Information would never have accepted the position. After Mirazi's experience with Egyptian television, he claims they have many unresolved issues. About shutting down Al-Jazeera Mubasher in Egypt, Mirazi said he disliked the approach of the channel. He used the term “bully” but he did not approve of it being shut down since it seems reminiscent of the oppressive policies of the old regime. Al-Masry Al-Youm: The head of the Illicit Gains Authority, Chancellor Asem el-Gohary, said they were closing in on properties of fugitive businessmen. He added the authority discovered new property belonging to Mubarak. He pointed out recovering funds smuggled out of Egypt is easy but the legal battles are difficult. He said was they are waiting for the right time to announce the list of countries that helped Egypt restore its smuggled money. Al-Gohary said he concluded the preparation of a memorandum of amendments to the law of Illicit Gains and article no. 14 law must change before the trial of Chief of Staff of the former President, Zakaria Azmi. There are five Chancellors bearing the responsibility of the investigations with figures of the former regime and are working 16 hours a day to accomplish their tasks. He also revealed the fundamental investigations are under way to uncover which satellite channels received money from the former regime. Al-Shorouq: Chairman of Cairo Court of Appeal and President of the Supreme Commission for Elections, Chancellor Abdel Moez Ibrahim, said the decree on electoral constituencies will be issued during the hours before the announcement of the Military Council decree. It will determine the procedures and dates of elections of the People's Assembly and Shura Council, which is expected to be released on September 26. One U.S. source said Egypt received aid not exceeding U.S. $500 million since the fall of Mubarak. Billions were promised by several Gulf countries, including Kuwait, Qatar, the U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia but so far are nothing but unfulfilled promises. Al-Gomhorreya: The Minister of Local Development, Mohammed al-Attiya, said the new local authorities will be announced next week. He noted the movement will include transfer and change of some of the heads of cities, neighborhoods and general secretaries and assistants. Al-Attiya said there will be no room for niceties in the selection of local leadership and they will apply the principle of transparency, the selection of competencies and the exclusion of those did not proven their worth during the last period. He also announced the shortage of gasoline in gas stations in all Egyptian governorates will be resolved within a few days and the Ministry of Petroleum recently sent a large amount to governorates throughout Egypt. This will decrease the number of complaints received from provinces.
