CAIRO: Egyptian Minister of Education Ahmed Gamal today vowed to find an immediate solution to the teachers' demands before a new parliament is elected. “We have made a significant effort these last days with other ministers and we strive to meet the teachers' demands and bring the education system back on track,” Gamal told Youm7. The minister also said that his discussions regarding teacher salaries with Egyptian Minister of Finance Hazem al-Beblawy are ongoing. Gamal refused to reveal the policies that will be implemented to solve the teacher problem. “I recognize the teachers' right to protest for their financial and moral demands, but they must return to classes for the public interest,” added Gamal. The teachers' strike, both in Cairo and other Egyptian governorates, entered its fourth day today.
