CAIRO: The Egyptian organization for human rights started arrangements to monitor proceedings of the upcoming electoral of presidential elections, the People's Assembly elections and the Shura Council elections, the upper and lower houses of the Egyptian parliament. The organization, in cooperation with Andalusia center for Tolerance Studies and the Union group for Legal Consultation, are carrying out ‘Monitoring for Change' project in order to monitor the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. Egyptians are awaiting the People's Assembly elections in weeks in spite of instable conditions in Egypt after the January 25 Revolution. Egyptians hope the new elected People's Assembly will express public ambition and apply its real role as the voice of the people and their defender. “The organization prepared training guide for monitors, of which 1,000 will be trained. The organization is holding 35 training courses in all of Egypt's governorates,” said the head of the organization, Hafez Abu Seeda. “The training courses are about civil society role in supporting democracy, mechanism and skills of monitoring elections, the legal situation of monitors and the rights and duties of voters and electors,” Seeda said. The organization aims to distribute monitors all throughout Egyptian governorates during the elections. They will report any violation and transgression during the voting session. They also will issue a final report include a list of violations. “Election is the main way people can express their will. It is also the only way to form legislative councils” said Seeda. “The organization therefore pays great attention to the elections and formed an alliance of 123 associations to revise the evectional process during the past few years.”
