CAIRO: Egypt is provided the Libyan town of Benghazi with 30 percent of its electricity after former leader Muammar Gadhafi's brigades destroyed the town's electricity network, according to Abdel Moneim Huni, the Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC)'s ambassador to Cairo. During a meeting with Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis, Huni said the NTC exerts a lot of effort to get the Egyptian Electricity Company to participate in reconstructing Benghazi's energy network. The Libyan Minister of Electricity will visit Egypt to discuss means of reconstructing Libyan electricity as soon as possible and to tackle bilateral relations between two states, Huni added. Younis said the exchange of electricity between Libya and Egypt has gained momentum as exports to Libya increased to 240 megawatts per day, except during the periods of high usage in Egypt.
