ALEXANDRIA, Egypt: Secretary-General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) Hussein Ibrahim Mannaa met yesterday with the General Consul of the People's Republic of China Leo De Jong in the Party's headquarters in Alexandria, a meeting considered the first between the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and Chinese diplomats. The two parties discussing issues like the Party's vision for the upcoming elections. Ibrahim reportedly underlined the MB's interest in all parties and revolutionary movements being represented in the next parliament. The parties discussed the Chinese effort in developing small industry to combat unemployment in the face of a rising population. The attendants also covered issues like China's successful development of recycling, new industry and new job opportunities. “The meeting was to glean ideas from the Chinese with regard to eliminating unemployment through small projects and enhancing the economy,” said Ibrahim. “The Party hopes to use practical solutions to solve Egypt's problems.” In attendance were the First Secretary of the Chinese Consulate Sheen Benj and the Secretary-General of the FJP's Foreign Relations in Alexandria Mohamed Sudan. Ibrahim had previously met with the Turkish Consul about Turkey's efforts to eliminate slums.
