Egyptian Attorney General Abdel Maged Mahmoud transferred the cases against two alleged spies, Israeli Ophir Harare and Jordanian Bashar Ibrahim Abu Zeid, to the Cairo Criminal Court. Harare was arrested in April 2011 after the January 25 revolution. Supreme State Security Attorney General Hesham Badawi, attorney Taher Kholli and Attorney General Mahdy Shoeib handled the investigation of Zeid. The arrests and subsequent investigations are a result of persistent Egyptian intelligence efforts. Officials in Egyptian intelligence monitor Israeli intelligence activities, particularly after the Egyptian revolution.
