Egypt's prosecutor-general has referred Bashar Ibrahim Abou Zeid,a Jordanian engineer currently detained in Egypt, and Ofer Herari, a fugitive Israeli Mossad (intelligence) officer, to the National Security Emergency Court on charges of espionage. The two are accused of spying for a foreign country with the purpose of harming Egyptian national interest. Abou Zeid was arrested in April 2010, prior to Egypt's January 25 Revolution. He was interrogated by National Security Prosecution after Egyptian intelligence had detected espionage activities between him and Herari, serving Israeli intelligence.
