The Egyptian government has signed a new gas turbine contract for Banha electrical station, said Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis. Younis said Banha station is part of a five-year plan (2011- 2017). It will produce 750 megawatts and costs 780 million EGP (U.S. $132 million). The station applies a combined circle system, which can produce one-third of the station's power without using fuel. The station consists of two Gustine units and one steam unit. Younis also said the contract includes the design, manufacture, supplying, installation, training, and testing of the two gas turbines. The simple circle of the station will be started in June 2013 and the complex circle will be started in 2014. The station will be connected to the National Electric Web in order to discharge station-produced power to the load centers. The foreign participants are the Saudi Fund for Development, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Kuwait Fund, Islamic Development Bank, Abu Dhabi Fund, and the OPEC Fund. National participants include the West Delta Company for Generating Electricity.
