Human Rights Watch (HRW) has asked to be allowed to attend the trials of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly. The trial began on Wednesday. Mubarak's trial was adjourned until August 15, and al-Adly's trial was resumed on Thursday and then adjourned until August 14. HRW presented an official request to the head of the court to allow representatives from the group to monitor the trial. The group's representatives have attended three sessions of al-Adly's trial. HRW said it has documented all crimes committed by Egypt's Ministry of Interior during the last 30 years, including torture and other abuses. The group had requested to attend Mubarak's trial before the initial trial date of August 3.
