The high-profile defendants appeared casual and at ease after the first session of the much-anticipated trial of former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Gamal and Alaa Mubarak as well as former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and his six top security aides. As the ousted regime officials were led to the armored vehicles taking them back to Torah Prison, smiles, greetings and other niceties were exchanged between civilians, police officials and the defendants. Habib al-Adly smiled with his police handlers, Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ramzy chatted with security officials and Alaa Mubarak tried to block a video camera from shooting while he met with his father's cronies. The footage enraged many activists on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook, who saw the repartee between former officials as insulting.
