CAIRO: Pope Shenouda III, head of Egypt's Coptic Christian Church, met with Coptic Christian telecom tycoon Naguib Sawiris and discussed the latest conditions in Egypt and the boycott campaign against Sawiris. The campaign was held because Sawiris posted caricature drawings on his Twitter account that some described as undermining Islam. Sawiris said he was astonished by the campaign, which has harmed the Egyptian economy. He said he copied these caricature drawings from a Saudi Arabian site and had not meant to insult Islam. He added that he respects all religions. Sawiris said the campaign was held by political Islamic groups. According to Sawiris, the campaign is political and not religious, and aims to destroy his political party. Pope Shenouda III and Sawiris also discussed the current situation in Egypt, laws of common worship houses, personal status laws and criminalizing discrimination.
