Egypt's Al-Ahly bank has received an offer from the governor of the Sudan's eastern region to build a tourism project on the shores of the Red Sea, according to Said Tarek Amr, chairman of the bank. The Sudanese government will provide the land for the project, he said. Amr told Youm7 that the bank is considering a range of investment projects in Sudan, because the country is full of opportunities for Egyptian businessmen. He said the bank established a branch in Sudan to encourage Egyptian businessmen to invest in their southern neighbor. Al-Ahly Bank has started implementing a reclamation project for 5,000 acres of land in Sudan, Amr said. One of the companies operating in Sudan has begun to dig water wells for agriculture, he said, adding that the project will be dedicated to the cultivation of alfalfa sprouts for export and other crops. The Ahly Bank is scheduled to receive a Sudanese delegation headed by Sudan's Minister of Agriculture to offer a new project to plant about 50,000 acres in Sudan dedicated to sugar cane crops.
