Egyptian internet users increased 33.1 percent from June 2009 to June 2010, according to a new report by the government-run Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The total number of internet users reached 14.8 million in June 2010. The report also said there was a 22.2 percent increase in the number of mobile phone users in 2010, totaling 59 million users over 48.3 million users in 2009. Phone centers increased from 2009-2010 by 0.5 percent compared to 20008-2009. Phone lines in the governmental sector increased by 3.7 percent in 2009-2010 compared to the previous year, while their number was reduced by 0.9 percent in the private sector. The total number of phone lines in Egyptian homes was reduced by 11.3 percent, the report added.
