CAIRO: ‘Shoes-37' is an exhibition in al-Sawy Cultural Wheel on the suffering of women football players in the Middle East. In her exhibition, German photographer, Claudia Wines, focused on women football in Egypt, Palestine, Turkey, and Germany. Her exhibition will last one week, which coincides with the German world cup for Women's football association. “The exhibition shows the insistence, desperation, victories, and joy of the players,” Wines said. “It is difficult to reach success, and these women suffered to obtain acceptance, appreciation and financial support.” The photographer presented photos for the Egyptian teams of Wadi Degla and al-Sayeda Zeinab clubs, as well as photos of Palestinian women football players. She said women teams depend on volunteering coaches, so they did not develop properly. Palestinian football players face difficulties due to the political situation, since they are not allowed to travel from Gaza to the West Bank. Problems of the Egyptian Women's association football lie in the shortage of support, according to Wines. She noted there is no difference between the veiled and non-veiled female players in Egypt and Turkey because of personal freedom. She added this matter is different in Iran where wearing the veil is obligatory.
