CAIRO: After announcing the date of Shakira's concert in Egypt in November, many doubt the possibility of having this concert due to the unstable situation in Egypt. A big concert like this will demand large security arrangements. The concert wasn't included on Shakira's official website online. Shakira visited the Arab region in 2007 in Egypt and Dubai. The choice of a hockey stadium to have the concert in doesn't suit the big musical event. Also the recent economic situation could influence and lessen the attraction of sponsors for this big concert. The concert organizer, Waleed Mansour, told Youm7 he is confident Egypt is secure and safe enough and the timing of the concert is suitable. When asked about why the concert is not included on the official site, Mansour said it is normal thing and that concerts are mentioned on the site two months before the concert date, after Shakira receives all her dues. This happened during the Dubai and Morocco concerts. About the venue, Mansour said it is a very suitable place from both an artistic and security point of view with a capacity for 30,000 people. He was also in charge of security for Amr Diab's concert, which was held at the same place. Regarding the issue of sponsors, one of the mobile companies will cover 80 percent of the concert's expenses according to Mansour.
