A police sergeant and two others were sentenced to four days in jail pending further investigations after three antique statuettes were found in their possession. The ruling was issued by Mohamed Abu Muslim, District Attorney of the 6 of October governorate outside Cairo. Major General Faram Awy, security director of 6 of October, received information from the director of investigations, Major General Jamal Abdul Bari, which led to the arrests. Detectives found the statues when they stopped and searched a car on Wahat road in 6 of October with the registration number "7524 Egypt." One statue is 7 cm long and another is 15 cm long and is a depiction of the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti. The car owner and police sergeant Ayman U. P., age 36, university student Amir M. T., 21, and cook Eid M. B., 38, denied that they had any connection with the statues. They said they were from Marsa Matruh and were on their way to the Ministry of Agriculture in Giza to handle personal affairs when they got lost and ended on the Wahat road.
