The Egyptian FA has issued two lists of clubs competing for the Premier League title this season, pairing Zamalek and Ismaili together. After announcing that the competition will kick off by the start of February, the FA held the draw for the new league system comprising 19 top-flight clubs. Defending champions Ahli will play in Group A alongside ENPPI, Harras Hodoud, MCDR, Gouna, Wadi Degla, Smouha, Ghazl Mahalla and Bani Suef Telephones. In Group B, Zamalek and Ismaili lead the way against Police Union, Gaish, Petrojet, Military Production, Ittihad, Arab Contractors and Dakhlia. It is understood that Ahli have been intentionally drawn away from bitter rivals Zamalek and Ismaili as the FA looks to avoid any potential clash between fans amid security concerns.
