Egypt and Ahli duo Mohamed Abou-Treika and Ahmed Fathi were both named in CAF's Best XI for the year 2012. Veteran Abou-Treika was included after he clinched the African-based Player of the Year award at the expense of Mazembe pair Stoppila Sunzu and Rainford Kalaba. Full-back Fathi was the other Egyptian on the list, thanks to impressive Champions League and Club World Cup campaigns with African champions Ahli.
