Basel manager Heiko Vogel is excited about new signing Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian made an impressive league debut for the Swiss champions. Salah played 90 minutes as Basel coasted to a 3-1 win over Thun, with the 20-year-old winning the opening penalty that paved way for victory. "You could see that, with his speed, he can be a major stress factor for the opponent," Basel boss Vogel told the club's website. “With a bit more luck he would have scored a goal or two, but I don't think we will have to wait too long until he enters the scoring books." Salah's pace earned him a clever penalty that allowed striker Marco Streller to score the opener and saw Thun keeper Guillaume Faivre booked in the process. The Egypt forward then chased a long ball that was handled by the keeper outside the area, forcing the ref to show him red. He could have easily scored his maiden Basel goal near the end but captain Streller decided to go for goal when Salah was totally unmarked.
