Ahli were forced to call off Thursday's training after tens of angry fans held demonstrations against the board and the players in protest over the 'lack of action' following the Port-Said disaster. In an unprecedented incident, first team coach Hossam Al-Badri decided to end the mid-day session as more than 50 supporters chanted against Hassan Hamdi's board. Ahli players also received some of the blame as the contingent at the team's training ground held banners condemning the 'passive role' of the Reds stars. A banner read:''Even the black armbands you took off"...and another message accused Ahli players of 'selling the victims' blood'. The angry fans are mostly believed to be relatives of the victims of last February's Port-Said catastrophe, which saw over 70 Ahli fans lose their lives in the calamitous incident that rocked Egypt. Investigation is still in progress since the February 1 accident, with almost no verdict imposed by the court of law ever since. Ahli prepare to take on Cairo rivals Zamalek in a crunch Champions League game on July 22; a game that will be played behind closed doors.
