Egyptian striker Mido is on the verge of joining English Championship side Barnsley on a free transfer, according to widespread reports. Mido, a free agent after being released by Zamalek last month, has been in talks with Barnsley over the past few days. It is believed that the 29-year-old will sign a one-year deal before the weekend with the Tykes, who finished only one place above the bottom three in the Championship last season. Should he complete the move to Oakwell, it will be Mido's 11th club in Europe, although it is the first time for him to join a lower division side. Barnsley almost signed Egypt international Emad Meteb a few seasons ago, but the deal was called off after the striker had infamously played for Ahli following an agreement with the English club.
