Unattached Egyptian striker Mido could face former club Middlesbrough in the 2012-2013 Championship season opener as he looks close to sign for Barnsley. The 29-year-old has been reportedly in talks with Barnsley during the past few days, a few weeks after he had been released by Zamalek. Middlesbrough, where Mido spent two seasons, were drawn against the Tykes in the opening day as Boro boss Tony Mowbray relishes a reunion with the ex-forward. “Barnsley won't be easy, of course, and it looks like Mido might sign for him,” Mowbray was quoted as saying by the Gazzette. “I know from his time here that he is a powerful, talented boy who knows where the back of the net is.” Mido had previous Premier League spells at Tottenham, Wigan and West Ham but has never played in a lower division during his career.
