Egypt's Mido completes Ajax loan
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 01 - 09 - 2010

Middlesbrough have confirmed that Mido has completed a season-long loan move to Ajax. Boro boss Gordon Strachan made it clear the Egyptian striker is not part of his plans and the club were keen to get the much-travelled 27-year-old off their wage-bill.
An initial attempt by Ajax to sign him on a free transfer collapsed while Turkish club Kayserispor withdrew their interest due to the player's attitude.
But the prospect of an Ajax return was revived - this time on a loan deal - and Boro have confirmed the paperwork was completed just before the transfer deadline.
Ajax first signed Mido from Gent in 2001 and he spent two years with the Dutch giants before playing for Celta Vigo, Marseille, Roma and Tottenham.
Mido played under current Ajax coach Martin Jol at Tottenham before making a £6million move to Boro in August 2007, signing a four-year deal at the Riverside.
He has endured an injury-hit spell on Teesside, though, scoring seven goals in just 32 appearances while going out on loan to Wigan, West Ham and back to his first club Zamalek.
Boro also announced that they have received international clearance for Senegal international Mickael Tavares.
The 27-year-old midfielder joined the Championship outfit on a four-month loan deal from Hamburg last week and although his signing was not cleared in time for Tavares to face Barnsley, he could now make his Boro debut during Saturday's trip to QPR.
