Egypt and Masri goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Shennawi is on the shortlist of Spanish Liga side Real Betis but a potential move is jeopardized by the 20-year-old club's ongoing instability. Masri have been without a chairman since Kamel Abou-Ali's resignation in the wake of the infamous Port-Said disaster that took place inside the club's home stadium last month. Consequently, Betis' recent enquiry about Al-Shennawi found no one to receive as talks are being halted until the future of the Masri board becomes clear. “There is no board to run the club in the meantime and thus there is no one to negotiate a deal with Betis,” Masri PR manager Sami Sholeil told FilGoal.com. “It all depends on the presence of a full board of directors, so Al-Shennawi will not be allowed to talk to anyone until this happens.” Al-Shennawi, who is expected to be Egypt's number one in this summer's Olympics, penned a five-year contract with Masri earlier this year. The up-and-coming keeper is regarded as an understudy to Egypt's long-serving goalie Essam Al-Hadari after emerging as a hot future prospect during the past year.
