Egyptian FA chairman Samir Zaher confirmed that the 2011-2012 Egyptian Premier League season will be put off following the death of several fans in Ahli's visit to Masri on Wednesday. Violence erupted after the league game that saw Masri beat the league holders 3-1 in Port-Said, where the visiting supporters were assaulted after the game, resulting in the death of several fans. “After consulting the Supreme Council for Sports and Youth, we decided to postpone league games indefinitely,” Zaher told Ahli's satellite channel. Following the events, Ittihad chairman Effat Sadat confirmed that his club will not take part in league matches unless the FA ‘imposes a severe sanction' against Masri.
