A wicked own goal that forced an Egyptian Premier League game off for the first time in quite some time as Ghazl Mahalla hosted Ahli in an ill-fated clash. It is hard to believe that there is a broken net at a top-flight game in Egypt in the year 2012, a silly frailty that almost caused a disaster at the Mahalla Stadium. The poor clearance by Mahalla defender Amr Ramadan didn't look like a goal when the ball went through the net with the Peasants surprisingly leading 2-1 against the league holders. But television replays confirmed it was in as Mahalla fans invaded the pitch in anger when referee Yasser Abdul-Raouf made his decision. Shockingly, Mahalla players continued to deny it even after the saga was over. "Of course I am sure it is no goal. I was covering the near post and it was impossible for the ball to go past me into the net," Mahalla keeper Sameh Ali told Melody Sport TV. "It was a normal reaction from my teammate to hold his head because he sliced the ball. "I don't need to call anyone to be sure about it. The ball didn't go in."
