Former Egypt assistant coach Shawki Gharib has been appointed as manager of Smouha, replacing Mimi Abdul-Razek, the club said on Saturday. Coach Abdul-Razek suddenly stepped down despite leading the team to an impressive 1-1 draw at Masri on Friday. Gharib, who worked for over five years as an assistant for current Zamalek boss Hassan Shehata on the Egypt bench, will be facing the Master in his first game in charge of Smouha next week. The former Egypt international will be joined by Hamada Sedki, who was also part of the Egypt coaching staff that won three Africa Cup of Nations titles in recent years. Smouha, who finished the previous season in last place, are currently third from bottom with two points from three games.
