Sudan and Libya have sealed qualification for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations despite failing to win against Ghana and Zambia respectively. Sudan were beaten 2-0 at home to the Black Stars in Group 9, while Libya held Group 3 leaders Zambia to a goalless draw in Chingola. The Arab duo, however, go through as the best two runners-up of the qualifiers, with Ghana and Zambia also qualifying as respective group leaders. “This victory is for all Libyans, for our revolution!” said Libya's 39-year-old keeper Samir Aboud, referring to the conditions at his war-torn nation.
Drama for South Africa Libya's point meant that Cameroon are out of the qualifiers - despite beating DR Congo 3-2 away - after finishing runners up in Group 5, only one point less than the North Africans. The same goes for two-time African champions Nigeria, who were held to a 2-2 home draw by Guinea in Group 2, with the latter snatching the qualifying ticket as leaders. Angola qualified from Group 6 after beating Guinea-Bissau 2-0 away, but were helped by the goalless draw of Uganda and Kenya in Kampala, to leapfrog the Ugandans by one point at the top. Group 7 witnessed the most dramatic finale as South Africa celebrated qualifying following their goalless home draw with Sierra Leone and the defeat of Niger in Egypt. However, the Bafana celebrations were shattered by news that Niger finished as group leaders, thanks to a better head-to-head record.
