Ahmed Elmohamady set up a magnificent equalizer for Sunderland debutant Sebastian Larsson as the Black Cats grabbed an impressive 1-1 draw at Liverpool on the first day of the new Premier League season. The home side were in front after just 12 minutes through Uruguayan ace Luis Suarez, who also blasted a penalty kick over the bar shortly before his opener. With Egypt wing-back Elmohamady playing on the right of midfield in front of Phil Bardsley, Sunderland started brightly after the break and earned a superb equalizer on 57 minutes. Elmohamady sent in a pinpoint cross for the unmarked Larsson, who beat Pepe Reina with a wonderful acrobatic volley. Elmohamady completed the 90 minutes at Anfield as Steve Bruce's men held on to their point to claim a fine result on day one. Sunderland host Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby at the Stadium of Light next week before visiting newcomers Swansea.
