Merreikh chairman Gamal Al-Wali lashed out at Essam Al-Hadari after he left to Cairo without permission. The Egyptian international wanted to part ways with Merreikh to join MCDR. Despite the refusal from the Sudanese giants, Al-Hadari challenged the board and flied to Egypt. "He crossed all the red lines by escaping from Sudan," said Al-Wali, who fired all the members of the football committee for allowing Al-Hadari to keep his passport. "We can defend our rights in Al-Hadari. He has to return to Sudan and apologize first. "Even if MCDR made a $10-million offer, we won't accept it till he admits his wrongdoing." Al-Hadari was at the center of a similar case since 2008, when he decided, despite being under contract, to leave Ahli and join Swiss side Sion. FIFA and CAS ruled that he should pay $900,000 in penalty and he was banned for four months. Ahli fans call him "The Fugitive Keeper."
