Egypt have booked their place in the 2011 U-20 World Cup after beating South Africa 1-0 in the African Youth Championship on Saturday. Ittihad striker Mohamed Hamdi scored the only goal of the game on the stroke of half time to down the hosts and send Egypt to the competition's semi-finals. Egypt get their sixth point to finish the group in second place behind leaders Mali, who already made it to the last four after winning their opening two games. The Malians, however, couldn't end the group stage on maximum points after being held to a 1-1 draw by minnows Lesotho. Drissa Ballo scored for Mali on 70 minutes, but Christopher Mosiuda equalized near the end to give Lesotho their first point. Egypt will face Group B winners Cameroon in the semi-final on Thursday. Mali will meet Nigeria, Gambia or Ghana. The 2011 U-20 World Cup finals will be staged in Colombia on July.
