Harras Hodoud recorded a comfortable 4-0 first-leg victory over Dedebit of Ethiopia in the African Confederation Cup round of 32 on Sunday. Egypt striker Ahmed Mekki opened the scoring with a seventh-minute header as the Alexandrians added three more after the break. A deflected shot from captain Mohamed Halim doubled the hosts' lead, before Abdul-Rahman Farouk and Ahmed Abdul-Ghani completed the rout with two more goals in the last ten minutes. The second leg will take place next month in Addis Ababa. Comfortable Hodoud boss Tarek Al-Ashri warned against complacency in the return leg, even though he seems satisfied with the comprehensive victory. “It is a comfortable win but there is still a second half for this fixture in Ethiopia. Nothing is guaranteed,” he said. “We missed some key players and we are looking forward to having them back in order to compete in this tournament.” Hodoud, who missed Ahmed Eid, Pape Latyr N'Diaye and Islam Al-Shater, made it past the round of 32 in their last four participations in Africa's second club competition.
